Organisational Behaviour joins EE&S for the 11th Conference on Diversity and Inclusion


Organisational Behaviour joins the Conference Cycle Ethics, Economy and Society for the 10th Conference: 
Diversity and Inclusion in Human Resource Management. Meet us next 8 November from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Official language: English.

Julia Hodgson, From the University of Liverpool, will return to address specific issues of the theory and practice of diversity and inclusion. With Julia, we are also happy to welcome Dawn H. Nicholson, from the University of Kent. Dawn draws on her 28-year long professional career as an HR consultant at Arthur Andersen; Managing Director, Deputy Head of Human Resources for Europe, The Middle East and Africa, for the global investment bank, Morgan Stanley, for 16 years. Before joining academia, Dawn was a partner at PwC.

Eva Dias de Oliveira, Lecture of Organizational Behaviour and Director of the MSc HRM at CPBS will introduce the session. Moderator: Isabel Guimarães, from CPBS.

Meet our guests:

Julia Hodgson is a lecturer in the Management School. Before this, Julia taught at the Liverpool Institute of Public Administration and Management. She received her BSc in Psychology from the University of Toronto and her postgraduate degrees from the University of Liverpool. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate modules. Her teaching interests include gender and diversity issues in organisations. Julia is currently interested in diversity management. Julia is also the Postgraduate Senior Tutor and Bullying and Harassment Advisor for the University. Julia has received several University of Liverpool Management School Teaching Excellence Awards and also the Enhancing University Life award. 

Julia will guide us through the complex paths of diversity and inclusion alongside Dawn H. Nicholson, who is a Senior Lecturer in Business & Organisational Psychology at The University of Kent. Dawn worked for almost 28 years in internal Human Resources (HR) roles and as an advisor to HR, in professional and financial services in the City of London. Most recently, she spent 3 years as a Partner in PwC's HR Consulting business, working with clients on their people-related issues and on PwC's client diversity offering. 

Before PwC, Dawn was Managing Director, Deputy Head of Human Resources for Europe, The Middle East and Africa, for the global investment bank, Morgan Stanley, where she worked for 16 years. Dawn was responsible for areas including reward, benefits, diversity, employee engagement, learning and development and recruiting. During that time, she also worked closely with internal employee diversity networks and was the senior sponsor of the Cultural Awarenessnetwork and the LGBT+ network. 

Before joining Morgan Stanley, Dawn spent 9 years at Arthur Andersen advising clients on people-related tax and HR issues. Dawn retired from PwC in June 2013 and returned to academia to pursue her primary passion -  understanding and improving group decision-making processes. She was awarded her PhD in group decision-making in the School of Psychology at Kent in 2019 and now lectures in Business and Organisational Psychology at Kent. She is also the Head of Accreditation for the Association for Business Psychology and is committed to growing the next generation of business psychologists.
